## About

Radiotherapy is full of systems that are powerful, fragile and deeply human. I try to make them safer without removing the judgment.

I'm a board-certified medical physicist at Henry Ford Health, where I work in MR-guided adaptive therapy and radiosurgery, and an assistant professor at Michigan State University. Before that I was a staff physicist at Sunnybrook in Toronto. My PhD was in radiation dosimetry and detector development. Today most of my research asks a narrow question: when an AI agent makes a treatment plan, which of its failures need a better model, and which can be fixed with a clearer interface or a plain check?

## Research

### SAGE: AI agents that plan radiotherapy

Language-model agents that operate the Eclipse planning system: they adjust objectives, read the recalculated dose, and try again, with a physicist reviewing every plan. Tested on prostate and on 41 radiosurgery cases.

Status: Two papers, 2026. [Prostate paper](https://doi.org/10.1002/mp.70654) · [Radiosurgery paper](https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-026-73885-x)

### Virtual reality for radiation oncology training

Simulators that let trainees practise linac safety and HDR prostate brachytherapy before they do it for real.

Status: Ongoing. [Brachytherapy simulator paper](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.brachy.2026.05.006)

### Measuring dose inside an MRI

MR-linacs image the patient while treating, but the magnet changes how dose detectors respond. We built an MR-compatible water calorimeter and measured absorbed dose in an MR-linac directly.

Status: Published 2020. [Calorimetry paper](https://doi.org/10.1002/mp.14468) · [Calorimeter validation](https://doi.org/10.1002/mp.14448)

### FLASH radiotherapy

FLASH delivers a full dose in under a second, which may spare healthy tissue but overwhelms most detectors. I worked on ultra-high dose-rate electron beams and scintillating detectors that can keep up.

Status: PhD work. [Scintillator paper](https://doi.org/10.1002/mp.13691)
